Valerie Roettger

Founder / Director

Valerie brings deep community sector knowledge, having worked for not-for-profits of all sizes for more than 20 years in roles ranging from service coordination to project implementation and quality management.

Valerie set up QImprove in 2016 to support organisations in building their capacity, securing funding and measuring and demonstrating their impact. Since then, QImprove has worked on a wide range of projects across the aged care, disability, out of home care, child and family, childcare and crime prevention sectors.

Valerie oversees and manages all QImprove projects, with support from her trusted team of experts and collaborators.

Valerie holds a Masters in Not-for-Profit Management as well as Graduate Certificates in Evaluation and Community & International Development. She is a Prosci-certified change manager and a certified project manager.

Cherie Pereth (née Nay)

Adviser, Evaluation and Social Impact

Cherie Nay is a qualified and highly skilled evaluator with extensive experience managing diverse projects in the not-for-profit and university sectors, ranging across mental health, prevention and child protection, public health, leadership and employability programs.

Cherie primarily supports and advises on service reviews and evaluation projects. Cherie has worked collaboratively with many of our clients to develop program logics, theory of change models and outcomes frameworks. Her work has contributed to service design initiatives, successful tenders and government submissions as well as the implementation of sustainable outcomes measurement practices.

Cherie holds a Bachelor of Environmental Science (Indigenous Studies), a Post Graduate Diploma in Community Development and a Masters in Evaluation.

Marcello Sequeira

Director, Data, Metrics and Performance Measurement

Marcello is a highly accomplished data professional with over 20 years’ experience in consulting and technology.

Marcello helps organisations transform by deriving the most benefit from their IT systems and data. He has established metrics, data governance and performance measurement capability in large corporations and not-for-profits over the past last ten years.

He set up QImprove’s Digital Capacity, Data & Analytics service, which helps our clients become more data-savvy to support decision making and measure their impact. He supports organisations by reviewing their current data capacity, developing metrics and dashboards and helps with process improvement to enhance data quality and increase efficiency.

He holds a Bachelor of IT, a Masters in Computer Science and is currently pursuing Doctoral Studies in the effective use of data for social enterprises. Marcello is also a Prosci-certified Change Manager and a certified project manager with the Australian Institute of Project Managers.

Marguerite Schwager

Senior Consultant

Marguerite is a highly committed community sector, public health and education professional. She brings more than 25 years leadership experience across diverse sectors, including child & family, disability, mental health, homelessness and school and tertiary education. Marguerite is passionate about the power of education and capacity building to drive change. 

Marguerite provides our clients with a broad range of supports, ranging from policy and resource development to program design, implementation and evaluation, training and the delivery of capacity building approaches. She also assists organisation in embedding evidence-based practice, self-assessment processes and quality improvement initiatives.

Marguerite holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Education and a Masters in Adult Education and Training.

Ellie Patten

Research Assistant

Ellie joined QImprove in 2021 as part of a paid internship and quickly transitioned to become a permanent and valued member of the team.

Ellie was diagnosed late with autism and ADHD, which has led to her passion to work within the not-for-profit sector and to advocate for others who are on a similar journey. She has a particular gift in completing assignments that require attention to detail and consideration for diversity and inclusion.

Ellie supports the QImprove team with research for tender development, as well as for the preparation of program models, program logics and evaluation frameworks. She has also made a significant contribution to the development of resources that support diversity in the workplace.

Ellie has developed particular expertise in disability and intersectionality and autism-inclusive workplace strategies.
